When I visited REGUA for the first time in February 2005 I was so impressed with the conservation project at the reserve that I wanted to help.

As my main interest is in Parrots and upon finding that the Parrots listed on the various bird lists for REGUA had discrepancies then I decided to carry out a Parrot Survey. 

The survey was done in November 2007 and like other surveys created more questions than answers so it led to me initiating this website to gather more information not only about the Parrots of REGUA but also about all Parrots within the State of Rio de Janeiro which could have an influence on which Parrots could ultimately be found at REGUA.
